About the Author and the Blog

My name is Alexandria. I go by Alex and probably won’t answer to my full name. But it’s important to note because people often spell my name wrong. Usually, it’s Alexandra without the “i”. In this case, I have to say, “No. It’s Alexandria like the city in Egypt. Or Virginia. You can choose which you reference.” Once someone misheard my name to be Alice.  That was at Starbucks and I Snapchatted my cup anyway.  Another mispelling—although this has only happened once—was Alexzandria. The added “z” led to delirious laughs and an inside joke. That being said, please call me Alex.

You might be wondering why I have an about post when I have an about me page. Redundant? Maybe. The answer is simple. The about me page is short and covers just the basics. Why not add this information to that page? Again, the answer is simple: aesthetic. I like the way the about me page looks and I don’t want to change it or muddle it with longwinded information. Instead, I will do that here.

For the sake of consistency, I’ll stick with the same format on my about me page, just expanded.

Aspiring author.

I want to write. I want to create stories. I want to create worlds and characters. And I want to do that for the rest of my life. I’ve written four books and have only gotten the courage to let people read them in the last couple of years. I’m now pursuing publishing.

Avid reader.

I read a lot. Mostly young adult (which is also what I write). I read “the classics” and books on writing. Recently, I’ve gotten into reading screenplays but only shows and movies I’ve already seen. And I’m always a sucker for a good Buzzfeed article.

Amateur baker.

I have a sweet tooth that usually hits around 8 pm each night. I’m addicted to those videos of people making food. Sometimes, I bake when I’m bored and feast on the spoils every night afterward.

Adventure seeker.

I like to travel and do new things. I have a love of beaches, big cities, and good restaurants. I’ve got a bucket list ten pages long and a conflicting fear of heights. My favorite thing I’ve done: hang gliding. Something I still want to do: surfing.

Now moving on to this blog.

The point of the blog is to document my journey to publishing and to subsequent goals. While waiting for that to happen, I’ll write about writing—tips, tricks, things I’ve learned. I’ll write about the books I’ve read and the books I’m writing. Sprinkled in between all that, I’ll have some lifestyle and fashion posts. Because people—like characters—are multidimensional with various interests.

Be sure to follow my Instagram for pictures I’ve agonized over while editing.

Thanks for reading! Happy writing!
